I then ran WUP's Registry Defrag (9% fragmented) to shave over 8 MB and reduce registry size to about 81 MB. I was hoping it would eliminate more of those.Įliminatimg nearly 45,000 registry entries should free up some space. In addition, it seems like WUP eliminated 9 of my 273 "Unsafe Entries". When I deleted some unused Time Zone Codes it gave an unfamiliar display in the Date & Time panel, but it was easy to restore that particular backup since I had cleaned each error category separately. I recommend not messing with the Unused Language and Time Zone Codes. These are not System Restore Points but WUP Restore Points. ![]() I used the default Create Restore Point for each of the 11 error categories. Most of the errors (43,515) were in the "Systems Settings" category. However, the WUP backup & recovery options seemed sound so I decided to rerun the WUP test separately on each of the 11 error categories. Since WinUtilities is a new tool for me, at first I was reluctant to delete that many registry entries at one time. only finding 2 registry errors.ĬRC found 31 errors (along with my accumulated 273 "Unsafe Entry" errors). ![]() These tools look for different categories of errors in some instances so the comparison is not exactly apples-to-apples.ĬC's performance was pathetic. I decided to try a registry cleanup test with CCleaner (CC), Comodo Registry Cleaner (CRC) & WinUtilities Pro (WUP). I have 273 of these errors on my machine. Comodo's cleaner also finds a class of errors they call "Unsafe Entries" which they strongly recommend you DO NOT delete. I thought I had a fairly clean registry on my 2-yr-old system since I use Comodo Registry Cleaner fairly regularly. I'm impressed! Installed WinUtilities Pro and updated to v9.7 with no problem (XP SP3 32).
